So I was just getting ready to do this myself, went to "borrow" some rubber caps from a mechanical buddy and he raised an interesting question: Won't this mess with your timing and jetting?
Just wanted to pose this question to the powers at be. I'm not so worried about the jetting as I just replaced my pipe and will need to work on that anyway, but the timing part got me thinking. If there is less ressistance on the stroke can this cause problems?

All it really does is add air to the exhaust to make it hotter. Remember this bike has a catalytic converter and we all know in order for a catalytic converter to work efficiently it needs to be at a high temperature. Thats why this is probably on our bikes to make the exhaust hotter. At least thats what I think.

I'm still staying stock & here's why;
My Klx will hit 100 mph on the speedo pretty easily and then I can hit the trails and it's quiet and legal. I rode trails a 2 AM the other night and didn't disturb any of my neighbors. Plus I think that the factory combination of back pressure/exhaust flow provides the best range of bottom and top end. Even the gearing is ingenious. This bike is like a work of art. If you want to do wheelies then you need to mod a bunch but for me Stock is DA SH%$ JMHO

And even the weakest of bikes can hit 100mph. Top speed on a dirt-bike has nothing to do with power, and everything to do with gearing.
