That collar goes over the top of the needle, above the clip. Without it, the needle is not held in place.

The N1TC needle is the stock 49 state needle.

I think you solved your issue, I bet it runs better with all the parts in there.

Brewster, aren't we talking about that alloy collar goes in from the bottom of the carb above the holder that screws into the carb bottom and accepts the main jet? I could be wrong, but I thought that part was there to keep the needle from quickly wearing out a softer brass component when the needle is constantly going in and out of the needle jet assembly. It's been awhile since I read up on this.

Edit: In fact that collar may be the actual needle jet orifice, but I thought it was a harder alloy to keep from wearing too quickly. And if my reading comprehension was correct that I just did, it may be designed to fit one way back into the carb. Here's a link that "might" help.

I checked on www.ronayeres.com p/n 92143 goes on the needle.
Your edit is correct, you are thinking about the needle jet.

Some people seem to call the silver looking "collar" above the main jet holder a "needle jet" anyway I ordered both collar and needle jet because of this confusion. I feel I'm so close. Couldn't put myself through ordering the wrong part.

I think you're on the right track. Without that collar/needle jet part, you'll get some weird results. The needle jet in most Mikuni's is just a one-piece affair that assists in metering fuel flow from the main jet and around the needle. It looks like all Keihin CVK's may use this collar/needle jet system. I think the terminology used in these parts diagrams is a bit confusing. It appears to me that the collar is the needle jet, but if that's the case, how do you select a different needle jet for tuning? And there may indeed be different "collars" for that purpose that I just haven't noticed before. It looks like what I'd normally call a needle jet in a Mikuni may just be a holder and emulsion tube for the main jet and needle jet (collar) in this CVK carb. I'm sure I could do more research, but I'm not using the CVK carb anymore.

16017: JET-NEEDLE part# 780630 bikebandit.com

needed the JET-NEEDLE not the NEEDLE-JET, and not the COLLAR of course i love how ****ing clear and strait forward all this is. Really wish i had known about
2009 Kawasaki KLX250SF KLX250W Parts, 2009 Kawasaki KLX250SF KLX250W OEM Parts - BikeBandit.com
shows a diagram of all the parts in the carb... would have made it easier.
but i didn't... so I'm still dealing with the hell i have unknowingly brought upon myself.

Oh, and ignore all those guys who switched to pumper carbs giving you advice - they do not understand our pain!
