Here are the pics i promised. Stock on the left, tusk on the right. Stock looks better in the garage. Haven't tried it out on the street yet, but the 10$ tusk is looking to good to be true.

The tusk looks as though the filament is not in the reflector's sweet spot.

Sorry I'm a noob. What does that mean? I was trying to go brighter for the death valley ride with out rigging up and paying for some auxiliary lights. Isn't the bulb fixed once you place it in the reflector housing?

Faulty execution of the design. I think whoever is making that bulb for them isn't adhering to the standards, so the filament isn't where it is supposed to be in the bulb which then puts it in the wrong place in relation to the reflector. I could be wrong; seeing it in person rather than just pics on the interwebs might create a different impression.

Default Do not buy tusk light bulbs

Last night I finally rode around town. I couldn't see anything. This light might work for other bikes but not the 09 KLX.

You're right ol'klx, the reflector is essentially a parabola which has been designed around a very specific focal point, which is in turn, where the filament is meant to be located. That's why non OEM bulbs, including HIDs, are very difficult, if not impossible to aim correctly and achieve an even light spread from. Therin is the hazard (both to rider and others) of using them, and why DOT standards make them illegal.
Thankfully it only cost ITN $10 to find that out.
