Deej, richness doesn't cause a red pipe. A lean condition will though. Lean=hot Rich=cool

ORIGINAL: deej

Pull the filter just in case, although if I'm thinking right a plugged filter will make it run rich since it is cutting off the air and so there will be more gas in the motor than air. How old it the bike? Sometimes if your exhaust is plugged with packing it can cause the pipe to get really hot.

This may sound stupid but is there any gas in it? my Honda did that just before it ran out off gas.

Pull the plug and read it - see ifits that happy tan-brown color, or something a bit lighter (that would indicate lean, right?).

It's got to be lean,I started it for a minute yesterday to run the carb out of fuel before i store it for the winter and within 60 seconds the pipe was glowing enough to light a big ol cuban cigar so I just let it run out and parked it. Maybe i'll drop it off at a shop and let them tinker with it or just sell it outright as I never really ride it anymore anyways. My 13 yr old jumped on it when I was in the garage and holey sh*t the kid is tall enough to flat foot it now, they grow way too fast.I wish he had an interest in bikes but has none, now if it was another methanol pullin tractor like his others he would be tearin up the driveway
