Pavers? Do you mean the interlocking blocks? A few of the trails have a short section of those at the beginning and the end, I think they are for erosion control. 199 had a few, as well as 151, they lay them for only a short distance, maybe 100 feet or so.

The end of 151 (from the direction we rode it):

A short way up 199:

I see them on a lot of ATV trails up north. I think its as much for traction on the ugly hills as for erosion control. And it appears to work real well. If your getting good bite on these hills, the big mud tires aint tearing it up.

Brian am I right in guessing that you didn't have the rekluse last time down there?
The rekluse makes all the difference in the world. I've been doing some really nasty rides recently and that freakin' clutch is worth it's weight in gold times 10.

Yes, you're right, and I'm lovin the Rekluse. I don't think that's the whole story, but it is certainly worth a few chapters. HardTaco did call me a "cheater" a couple of times on a few sections where he had a little bit of trouble and I was able to make it a little cleaner, though. Rekluse = cheater weapon - it definitely helps. Best mod I've done. I'm glad you like yours, I was a little worried about recommending it in case you didn't like it, that's a lot of coin to drop if not.

That said, he was able to make it up 176 more easily than I. Trail 176 wore me out.

yeah I've been called a cheater too, I just laugh at em'. I agree about it being the best mod. I love mine. Was getting some chatter in there so I put in the thicker plate and it quieted it down some. I think I'll need new friction plates by next year.

Where's the vid's? Always look forward to those.

I haven't started editing the vids yet. It takes a long time to do the video(s), there are many hours to edit down to something presentable and I've been too busy in the evenings with work right now to get started on it. But hopefully I can start before the weekend.

Next up will be a photo series entitled "The Quad goes over the Hill."

Yea a lot of the trails on State land have the pavers on hills to prevent erosion. They also employ a rubber mat that gathers water and direct it off the trail, but wou can run over it and it pops right back up. Kind of a clever idea really. Keeping some of the silt out of streams and rivers is a good thing I hear.

Thanks man! Next time you're coming with us. I would only be about a 6 day ride for you to get there.

More photos have been uploaded, the next installment is coming up.
