I hada 1979 model (n) and that was a twin shock.
I believe it was 81 when the RM went both "full floater" and water cooled.
Front disc in 85.
Somewhere between 81 and 83 they dumped yellow and black for yellow and blue.
After this bike I had a couple of Honda Xl's and then my first Kawasaki.
A 1987 KDX200.
And a great bike it was too.

My brother had one of those, but his had the twin shocks I'm pretty sure. I'm thinking it was maybe a 1980? That was a fast bike!
LOL, I graduated high school the year EMS was born. I wish I knew then what I know now.

Grreaaat. Now the old folks are having a mid-life crisis. I can't say much since I was born in 1985 and there is not much that I have that is as old as me. I can say at the least, I own a Panasonic microwave that is still going that is actually older than me.
Weren't the 80's great. Good thing I grew up fast through that dressing error days. As for the pinstripping on the Ford Ranger. Nothing is better than a little custom painting. At least its paint and not decals applied to paint.

Wow! I rememberHonda having thatsamebasic bike in like 1970. They must have made it for a long time. I remember it as the 'QA50' When my father was shopping for my first bike, it was between that and the Suzuki 'Trail Hopper.' We opted for the Trail Hopper because they were balanced a bit better. Mydad planned to ride whatever we gotoccasionally and he couldn't keep the front wheel of the Honda on the ground when he test rode it
Believe it or not, that same basicHonda 50 design still lives-on here in Japan, where they call it the 'Monkey' There are more than a few adults who ride around on them with there knees up around their ears...never could understand why, and I probably never will There are books and books of farkles and performance mod kits available for them as well.

I was born in 1983, and here's a pic of the first bike I owned. I wish it was a pic of my ACTUAL bike but it was stolen from my garage. Maybe if I look through the scrapbook I can find one. It was a 1979 Honda 50 I bought off my best friend when he bought an 80. I used to ride that thing everyday until I hit reserve!

Wow! My first bike was a Suzuki Trailhopper also! I think we got it in 1971 or 1972. Here is an ad from 1971 that I found:
I also had a 1972 Kawasaki 350 Bighorn. Here is an ad for that one: (ignore the questionable Japanese cowboy in the background)
