Handlebar Bend For Short Rider
Hey guys,
I was just wondering, what is the rule of thumb for short riders (5'6" - 5'7") and aftermarket handlebars? Should I get higher/lower bends? wider/narrower bends? less/more sweep/pull back? compared to the stock 2009 KLX250S bars.
I know they are purely preference but I have no way of knowing how they feel without them being mounted.
Thanks all.

i would say figure out if you want the bars higher or lower, and then go to a good shop and feel the bars in your hand, it makes a huge diffrence. i would say if your worryed about being short, try looking at a ricky carmichael bend, he was pretty short.
I'm 5'7" and I like low bend Suzuki RM bars on my KLX, but I tried them on my vintage bike and hated them.
This should give you some ideas

Thanks for the input guys. Anyone know the theory behind how bars should be for shorter people. In theory, should they be running low bends as opposed to high bends? I know it's preference, but technically what is better?
FYI 5'7" is not short, most of the bike are design for people that size because it's in the average range.
If you ride your bike a lot while standing up on the foot pegs than you would like to have the handlebar higher to be more confortable. If you like riding in tight trails in the wood, having narrower handelbar will help you. If you do a lot of highways don't forget that with aftermarket handelbar you lose the weight at the each end (inside) the stock handelbar that helps stabilizing the bike. And if you want rock solid handle bar go with the 1.25", the adapter will make them rise so you can get a low bend to get back to normal height. I hope that helps, good luck with your choice.

my lady is 5'2'' and runs cr highs the are like stock klx bars i personaly hate low bars as i'm 6'3'' its really going to be up to what you prefer and how you like to ride i finaly started running raptor bend protaper so i don't have to lean to stand
I'm thinking I'm gonna go with the best of both worlds and just get a klx mid bend or something. Is this a decent option? Also, at what height do you need longer cables? I've read some posts but found conflicting results.
