My buddy just had his piston, rings and top end redone..only had 7000km on the bike (2005 KLR650)..He had extended warranty, but had to fight tooth and nail with the dealer and Kawasaki. He even called Kawasaki himself (he's quite outspoken) before they would go good for it...so be prepared to stand your ground. Good luck, hope your back on your wheels soon

 

OK...... The shop just called, I need a piston, cylinder, all valves and springs and stuff, new head piston rings.... mmmmm..... i think thats it.... the cam gearsand timing chain stuff is fine. One of the intake valves broke and fell down into the cylinder. Kawi is paying for it all considering it " a bad previous repair" mmmmm never would have guessed that. So parts are ordered, so now its the waiting game.

 

o yea...... kawi has a new policy, that the vechicle must be repaired with all original equipment. 250...... even if they are all kawi parts...... so no go on the 300 would have been great.

 

hopefully.... they have to send kawi all the old parts........

Awesome. You added some extra warranty right? I'm glad I added 4 extra years, piece of mind man.....piece of mind. Plus I already got back half of the $440.00 so its all good. I hope they get it fixed in less than two weeks so you can salvage some riding time.

 

Good to see Kawasaki taking care of you. I figured you'd have to fight for it, but I'm glad I was wrong.

So ... the big question. After the repair, are you keeping or selling/trading?

 

I'm farther north than Eric and my riding season ended Christmas Eve day.....plenty of time left for riding, not to mention its a comfortable temperature now.
