Default Got my FMF Q4 What do you think of my Jetting plans

Ok, got my FMF pipe, jets, and a N1tc needle. Sorting through all of the variations listed on here I plan to start with these settings. N1TC needle with clip on 2nd slot from blunt end, 130 main jet, 38 pilot jet, 2.5 turns from bottomed on mixture screw, and snorkel removed. Maybe thats too much to change all at once. Reading on here there seems to be a pretty wide range of settigs that are working for people. I know I'm on the high side with both jets, but I have read of others set higher. I could leave the pilot jet at stock 35, and I bought 128,130,132,and 135 main jets to play with. I'm no carb expert. I'm not afraid of tearing into it, but I'd like to do it as few times as possible. What do you think?
Thanks Dan

where do you live? location depends alot on jetting recommendations, sea level that is. congrats on the new stuff, you're gonna love what it does to the powerband. kudos on getting the keihin stuff, not many do that anymore. the N1TC is a very nice piece. I had it in my '06.

+1 on the Keihin. You know that's where I'm at.
That jetting sounds like a good place to start although IMHO I'd start big with the main jet (#135.) Your home elevation isn't that high. Is the local terrain all around 750 feet? Let me know how it goes for you.

Rockford, IL. That's a lot of farmland hey! Not much above 1000 feet from where I'm looking.

WestOz, you sir are correct , outside of town it's mostly farmland, It's not flat here, but the elevation only varies +/- a few hundred feet. I think it was you that posted about running a 138 or 140 main? Hokie, i was going to wait and do all of the install tomorrow morning, but couldn't resist starting tonight. Got the pipe fitted to the bike, and removed everything in the way of getting the carb out, so tomorrow I can get right at it. Well actually, first thing in the morning I am going to seal my blacktop driveway, but after that it's all playtime with the bike. Btw the FMF weighs 5lb 7oz stocker is 8lb even.

I live in Iowa, 1000'. On my '06 I ran the same exact needle and jets as you have except for I stuck with the stock pilot. I used a 128 main and needle on the 2nd notch I believe. I'd stick with the 128 and fine tune the needle since it's easier to get to.

I have changed a main by spinning the carb in the boots, I never looked at how accessible the top of the carb was when I had it spun. Im assuming you can get at the top of the carb just as easily when you have it spun? IG is that what you mean by "easier to get to", or are you pulling the tank to get at the top of the carb?
