Is it illegal in this forum for me to recommend another forum? I hope I don't get banned for this....check out kawiforums.com and go to the ninja 250 section! There's lots of info there and high traffic!

Not illegal in that I don't think the police will get involved.

OH dude you are screwed, Deej rules with an iron fist-worse than Stalin!

That forum is pretty active, but it seems like most have the 08 model.

It's all good, the 250 has been around a long time so I'm sure there is a huge amount of info online. Maybe we will do a dyno day with the klx and the ninja.

I've been watching the want ads for a Ninja 250 as well, for my wife. Her XT225 was too tall and she says she wants a scooter! Not in my garage! I've been seeing them for around 2.5-3k for 2007's.

Those Arilla 2-smokes are swwwweeeet! I've seen a few of them on the road here, but I don't know how easy they will be to plate now that the rules have tightened-up after the Kyoto accords.

I also like the Suzuki 250 Gamma. It's not quite as stylish as the Aprilla, but it goes like raped ape. Rode one in Hokkaido and had to back off on the throttle as it passed though 150MPH! It musta been cuz I was so distracted by the scenery.....

The Aprilia shares the same "basic" engine as the RGV abeit with Aprilia's "special sauce."
150MPH sounds about right.
Had trouble keepin' up with the RS and RGV when I had my NSR400R (why did I ever sell it?) Those bikes are lightning fast and scalpel sharp in the corners and on the brakes.

Pretend you're Rossi. Hee hee.

Don't get the 07, that's the old style... they barely changed the old one since the 80s. If you get a Ninja, JE, get an 08 or newer.

This is pretty much the only high-volume forum... I think the ZX6R forum stays pretty active, too, sometimes.

meh, $2500 vs. $3200. I didn't want to spend over $3000 so, I think I'm fine with the purchase. The guy had a maintenance spreadsheet. That is worth something to me, especially since it'll be my girl riding and not me.

I know it is the older style but it's a proven design, kind of like another bike I know of...I'll get a pic up next to the KLX when it arrives...

Oh, any advice on riding it home? Because the 09 KLX250 is the only bike I've ever ridden!

just get comfortable on it before you take it up to speed. Get comfortable with the counter steers also, it feels awkward at first.

+1 on countersteer... that's the most awkward thing on crotchbikes. I learned to ride on a Ninja250 (a ragged-out one at that) and a race-ready GSXR750 and a Yamaha R6... definately ride around in first or second in a parking lot or whatever around where you pick it up and get used to that. I guess since its for the wife it'll be ok
