I wish I lived near by I would love to see the little klx in action. I live in N.Y. Just a little too far...LOL.. GOOD LUCK!!! And give them HELL!!

Hey Seth, where and when exactly is the race? It might be possible that I could catch it live and in person - I'm a little north of you and Gravy Train just outside of Raleigh. Does the track have a web site?
Heres the link you might have to do map quest on the road its probobly about 1hr 20min from Raleigh because it just south west of Fayetteville in Raeford.

Thanks! I'm actually a tad east of Raleigh in Apex, so I think it might be better for me to come down US 1 cut over onto 211 at Aberdeen. According to the web site, racing starts at 8:30 - not sure if I'll be able to make it that early. If I do make it, I'll try and find you. I don't think I'll have any trouble recognizing your bike. Either way, best of luck and have fun!

well sure he could beat us if we too were on klx's, but if i was on a kx 125 i could wax him. the klx just lacks the explosiveness it takes to win in mx, don't care what you've done to it. if you were beating guys on 250's on an 80 it doesn't say much for the skill level those guys were riding with. i too beat 125's regularly on my '87 kx80. those days are gone as the gap between 80 and 125 is more distant. my '87 kx 80 probably had more power and probably also would outrun my klx, and that's sad.
also, if you read my post closer, i said a little skill helps. sure, if an idiot who just knows how to shift and balance a motorcycle goes out there on a rocket he's bound to get hurt. but take the same bike and put a rider with a little skill and he's gonna be up front as compared to a guy with a lot of skill and a slower bike.
RC couldn't win on a privateers bike, it's his bike that gets him out of the gate and sailing through the straights in the air. the bike makes the difference more than the rider. the rider can only ride as fast as the bike will take him. look at Stewart last year in the outdoors, perfect example- he didn't have the 450 4-stroke and had to ride the 2-stroke KX250. he is a faster rider than RC, but couldn't keep up because RC's bike was faster. now he's got the 450 and he is dominating supercross this year.

I think the point is, at the amature level, it's ridier skill and confidense that result in fast laps times. Nobody is riding ot more than 70-8-% of the bikes ability. Having a little bit better suspension, 50 fewer pounds and a few more horsepower won't make that much of a difference.
Hey, if 30 guys show up to a race and you win, then you beat 30 guys... that's still a great accomplishment and more than most on this board can claim. He'll be the only guy racing that can stick his lisense plate on and ride it home. It's the true spirit of racing to "bring what you got" and ride it hard. Racing is ultimately about the rider, not the bike.

I just got back a little bit ago from the MX race. My wife and kids and I walked around the place looking for that distinctive #303 KLX250S but I couldn't spot it. So we made our way around to the back side of the track when a new race was about to start. As the riders from the new heat were rounding the track near where we were at, I was watching trying to spot the bike and there it was over the table top and landed right in front of us. It took me by surprise but Seth's KLX250S is unmistakable. I got a bit more footage as the heat went on. Check it out below.
Seth was holding his own - there were a whole lot of riders and Seth was in the top 10 as far as I could tell. We'll wait on Seth to hear the actual placement but Seth and the little KLX250S were hanging in there with some big guns that were really flyin'. Here are a few photos of Seth and a movie clip. I only caught the first heat before I had to go. Seth was due to race again later but I couldn't stay so I don't know how that went.
Seth, it was great meeting you and your lovely wife there! Hope you did as good on your 2nd heat as you did on the first - both bike and rider looked sharp!
