Reading some of the old posts, I found one regarding the placement of the gear change lever.
I have recently changed the spline on my gear lever to try to improve the position.
No improvement really. I feel I still have to move my boot and "hook" a gear.
What I really wanted too know is if anyone has fitted an after market lever or moded the original.
IMO I feel the lever needs to be a tad shorter.
I'm using size 10 Fox Tracker boots.
Any ideas?

 

I played around with mine for several months, readjusting the lever up, then in and out on the splines, adding an extender that plugged into the end of the shifter **** but finally gave up. I couldn't find anything on the internet which of course doesn't mean there isn't something out there that will work. I finally needed some new boots, went with the AlpineStar Vectors (size 11) and couldn't believe how easy they made the shifting - problem solved! I love those boots, flexible yet can handle the rough stuff out here in the desert. You can find them on sale online for around $150.

I agree, the boots can make huge difference with shifting ergonomics. Otherwise, the cut and fit and weld technique is the best. Provided you have a welder that is.
