I do a lot of commuting and have noticed that if I keep it below 65 indicated I get much better mileage. 65mpg vs 58mpg at 70. Very speed sensitive.

If you come to Canada, specially east side, you're welcome to my place for a one day riding of rocky trails

REALLY.......You ride ***** to the wall and expect to get 70mpg? Try easing up a bit and you'll easily get 70mpg. I have tracked just shy of 2500miles on Fuelly | Share and Compare Your MPG and average mpg is in the mid 70's. Admittedly I don't ride hard like a lot of more experienced enthusiast's. Seriously if you want better mileage on your bike or car just back off a bit, you'll also see more of what is otherwise flying by.

Like I said in my original post, my lack of better planning caused me to have to hit the highways more than expected, and I had to run those speeds to keep with traffic and not get ran over. Everybody up here feels the need to have big **** 4WD dually trucks, so you better keep up or risk becoming road kill. I'm not retarded, I know that more throttle equals less MPG, I was just curious if others were experiencing generally the same drop in MPG's at that speed. Thanks for the advice though.

Oh oh, sorry....I can only interpret what you write, unlike your wife who can read your mind. The unprinted "what you were thinking" I guess I missed. Oooops.

Dynojet kit, FMF pipe, 13T sprocket, Dunlop D606 tires = 55 mpg. But it rips compared to stock. Get a bigger tank and don't worry.

No your mpg is normal. This bike is a FUEL HOG, no other way to say it. You can run a much bigger bike and get the same mpg. Don't all of the BMWs get better than 50?

When racing in the desert I am not at high speeds but on and off the throttle, no more than 35 mpg.

I regularly get 55 mpg on my 8 mile each way commute with a small amount of 65 mph indicated.

Fuel hog.
