Gas Mileage?
The other day I set out for some geocaching on the KLX. I thought I had mapped out caches that were mostly on dirt roads, but it didn't exactly turn out that way. So I rode mostly on highway running between 70 and 80 mph (indicated). At 82 miles (I zero out the trip meter after filling up) I had to flip to reserve. The bike runs absolutely perfect....I thought this bike was supposed to get 70 MPG?
I used to get the same mpg as yours and I was really disappointed to for expecting 70+ from what I red here before buying the bike (bone stock).
Last week I went for a ride with my girlfriend (2 up) and managed to keep the bike mostly below 5k (sometimes 6k at max). The result was a nice 72 mpg!
Let's just say that this little bike is really throttle sensitive when it comes to gas consumption. I had no fun driving like I did with my gf on the back, but it seems to be the way many people treat their bike on a daily basis for getting such high mpg.

If i remember correctly , reserve is a half gallon. You would have burned 1.4 gallons before reserve, and at those speeds , you wouldn't be getting the best mileage. Pretty wound out.

Hey dude!...are you back from the trip yet? And guess what, speaking of gas mileage? Got a TM36 pumper on its way.
Was going to ride up to around flag this morning, but the rains came.
Great riding with you, been thinking.... Canada next year....?
