My buddy owns a powder coating shop in NY. Brought down some bike parts this morning and made them matte black. That's some sick equipment he's got there! I walked into the oven for a second and thought the skin was melting from my face. hahaaa

My cat won't get out of the way when I'm taking pics. ever.




What else should I coat? I was thinking maybe the rims but I think it'll be a PITA. I will probably do the clutch and alt cover..

 

yeah wouldnt do the rims. you would (or should) take out all the spokes and then re-lace them after.

how bout swing arm?

 

Also side note - when I was pulling the rack off the back, one of the stud pegs' nut got galled and snapped the stud off.. See in second pic? I tried like crazy to get the stud out (I think it's a stud) but can't budge it.. Does anyone know if it's actually a stud? Or if I will have to drill/tap it?

The racks came on the 06-07 KLX's 09's got no rack.

The stock 06-07 rack wont bolt up to the 09's but there is a guy making and selling racks for the 09's on ebay ,,,, nomadic racks? Search on KF and ebay you'll find it.

 

i would have done the frame and swingarm, but thats a lot of work.
