Default Fuel Filters?

Hey guys, just wondering about the fuel filter. Are they built into the tank? We don't have an in-line fuel filter? Should we add one? Any thoughts? Later all.

There is a itty bitty filter at the fuel inlet for carb. I went to get a pic, but the kawi site wasn't being very cooperative.

Deej,

I put an inline filter in as soon as I got the bike - do with all my bikes.

I've seen posts in other forums where people have had to clean their carbies out after only 2000 to 3000 kms because of very fine silt coming through with the fuel.

They only cost about $5's and you can fit them in 5 to 10 minutes. On the KLX, I just cut the fuel line running from the tap to the carby and fitted one in there. The amount of fuel line you have to work with should be OK, but it will depend on the type filter you get.

I don't have a photo handy - sorry.

Drof

Drof, do you recall by any chance, the inner diameter of the fuel line tubing?
I figure I better add myself a filter on there, and I'm too lazy to go and measure myself.

Spot on Mav.

Just get one from the bike shop. They're all about the same size and the hose is rubber, so it's not an exact science.

BTW - measuring, what's that? My usual process is:
- look at it
- go buy something
- try to fit it
- swear
- swear some more
- go buy a different something
- try to fit it
- repeat above steps until...
- SUCCESS!

Does measuring make the process any quicker?
