Default Fuel filter?

So I had to hobble home on the choke again yesterday - haven't looked yet but seems like I have a bit of dirt in my carb again. Last time it was a speck so tiny I had to look 3 times before I found it, and it took a while for the knuckle skin to heal. This thing seems pretty vulnerable to tiny specks, or I'm just unlucky - always careful to keep dirt out when I fuel though. Who has put an aftermarket filter on? There's not much room for one, between the petcock & carb, but think I'll start looking around. I've got a snorkle & DJ kit here waiting for the timing to be right, I think it's time - so looking for filter input. Pics would be awesome.

Plenty of room for a inline filter, cheap insurance if you ask me.

Please note this isn't a "no vote" for add-on fuel filters, but my '06 KLX may be the first bike I've ever owned that I haven't run an add-on filter...and I've had a ton of bikes. I haven't had so much as a hiccup due to debris in my float bowl. Frankly, I'm a little surprised.

I think there is already a fuel filter on the KLX. Its either in the gas tank or the fuel selector.

It's just a strainer for the big chunks.

I pulled some dirt thru my carb the other day and it took a minute or so to clear, lucky I was doing about 70mph when it died I had time to switch to reserve and hit the choke a few times. Right about the time I thought I was walking it cleared and I've had no other trouble.

Went on in the first 50 km. Gets a new one every year.

Stock on 07 and earlier bikes. You can retro fit but I recon the OE part is $$.
