Default Front Sprocket C/S Installation?

Okay if there's really no such thing as a stupid question then what is the proper way to install this sprocket? Maybe I should know this because Moose Racing doesn't include any instructions. When I called the local dealer they said any way as long as the chain looks like it is tracking straight. There must be a reason why one side is totally flat and the other has a raised ring (see attached picture). I installed it with the raised ring against the engine since the stock sprocket had a similar raised ring. Did I install it correctly? I noticed new wear marks on the rubber chain guard on the swing arm out about 1/16 from the stock wear marks.

That's what I thought and how I installed it. Moose Racing email support just responded to my email for instructions. Figures after I couldn't wait any longer and posted it here. Can you believe that they said to install it with the flat side towards the engine. So, of course I took off the sprocket and tried to install it with the flat side towards the engine and after getting everything hand tightened, the chain rubs against the engine and the sprocket doesn't move. Nice to know the responses here are accurate.

Thanks WestOzKLX.

Yep shoulder on the inside. I forget the brand I bought for my bike 12,000 miles ago, but I had to have the machine shop make a spacer for mind since it was flat on both sides.

Okay I'm going to put the sprocket back on with the 'shoulder/collar' inside. This is how the stock sprocket was. What bothers me is that the 'shoulder/collar' of the MooseRacing sprocket is taller than the stock one by about a 1/16 of an inch. Why would there be a difference? I'm reasonably sure it doesn't make that big of a deal as I rode about 75 hard miles with the new sprocket and the chain stayed on

You should let Moose Racing know that their advise/instruction sucks!

I've had the worst luck so far with what should be the easiest mods. First I have the dealer replace the stock tires with Trkmstrs and they reversed the tire bushings. I thought the breaks were just rubbing or there was dirt on the axle, but after cleaning and greasing I realized the dealer had the bushings on the wrong side. Pretty bad when there's an 'R' on one telling you it goes on the right side. Now I ask the product manufacturer how to install thier product and they tell me the wrong way. BTW, they responded back to me in email again saying sorry they told me the wrong information only after I told them the chain binds and doesn't move.

I have to think twice now about having the dealer re-jet the carb. Maybe I should just try it myself.

That's a sad story. There is enough info and help on here for you to do your own jetting. I knew nothing about jetting before I did mine. I searched all the jetting threads and looked at the mods in peoples signatures. Mine ran like a top first try. I feel like I got lucky getting it first try, but I don't think it has to be perfect.
Good luck either way, sound like you'll need it if you use that dealer
