Quick question......I'm looking for a cast rotor that fits the KLX.I believe the KDX200/220 rotor is the one......just looking for any input.I already have a KX125 rotor that sux so i have heard that the KDX rotor is the way to go.....I'm also adding new pads at the same time.....the stockers have made it for 5200 miles and they only have 2mm left.....time for change...
I wanted a new Cast KDX rotor and a set of EBC pads to go......Hopefully someone could shed some more light on the subject.The '00-'03 KDX # is different but shares the same fiche # so i'm pretty sure it will fit....
BUT I'm not going to spend 220$ for a rotor from Kawi so i was going to get one from EBC or Galfer......for 96$ and better quality.

 

At that price Id be surprised if it were not just a 1 piece rotor--in which case I'd rather have Kawasaki. Just be sure before you buy. Late model KDX rotors do fit.

 

The KDX200/220 rotorfits the KLX250S hub perfectly. The Kawasaki PN is 41080-1377 The corresponding years of KDX200 are 1995-2006. KDX220 model years are 97-2005.

OK...I found a rotor I want ...EBC#MD6015C supercoss contour.
Any recomendations on pads???? I think i found about 30 kinds....
was hoping to match a set of EBC pads to the rotor but DP and Moose have a set that look like they'd work well.....remember mud and sand resistance is the least of my concern...it's how fast they will stop is the most important.I'm leaning towards the Moose XCR pads.

 

On EBC...if they also note it to fit the KLX300 it wont fit the 250S--it cant--they have two different mounting bolt sizes. So make sure it is right---maybe they have their act together now but I know Dennis Kirk for example, listed EBC rotors to fit the 250s that didnt. I found all this out doing research for a SM brake rotor for the S. In the end Iordered a EBC KLX300 rotor butknew going in I had to madify it to fit the S (& I did have to).

I'm asking before i buy a different rotor now.I figure it would work....for what it costs a 15$ cost at a machine shop is nothing compared the the 225$ an OEM KDX rotor would cost.....
My only point is that it is specifically listed under the KLX250S '06/'07 section so i would assume it would work......but never assume as it makes an *** out of U and ME.....

a KLX300 front rotor will not fit as KLXer said. I know firsthand as I bought one for my '06 KLX250S because I liked the way it was cut better than the oem 250's. I actually found a stock one for around $20 or so on ebay. I got it and went to put it on and the bolt mounting holes are smaller in diameter than the 250's. It got sent back to the seller as he claimed it would fit the 250S, I should have done my homework more. Sure you could have someone machine them larger, but the holes aren't straight through as you'll see if you remove your rotor. There is a shoulder that the head of the bolt rests on so it will not stick out and hit the inside of the fork. Alot of those rotors listed aren't iron like you said you want unless those weren't oem's in that case I don't know. I'd look for a used oem KDX rotor and call it a day. You just bolt on and go, no messing around with a machine shop.

edit: this is an example of a brake rotor that will NOT fit your bike. don't confuse the KLX250R with the KLX250S because these rotors will fit the R model as that is really the bike the KLX300R was before '97.

Its whoever published that list--it is impossible for one rotor to fit all of those bikes, it has to be one or the other.
