Default Frictionless Throttle Tube

Has anybody replaced the stock KLX throttle tube with one of the fritionless tubes offered by companies such as Pro Taper, Outlaw Racing, Works Connection and etc?

This tube looks about right to me:

Does anyone know if the Suzuki/Kawasaki/Yamaha 4-Stroke tube is a direct replacement for our bikes?

The OEM throttle feels pretty bad but I don't want to go with a single cable throttle set-up.

Sounds like a marketing gimmick to me. I didn't see anywhere that it had bearings or anythign to make it more "friction free" than nylon on steel or nylon on aluminum. Just for kicks trying removing the "push" cable and see how your throttle feels. It's more likely the cable friction you are feeling. I know that when I use a pressure cable luber tool that they feel great for a little while and then they are not so great.

Ahh, the old "frictionless surface", how I remember it from my engineering texts.

Is there too much friction in the throttle?

If you want to go single cable a few of us are running the Motion Pro Vortex.

And while the link to the ProTaper Frictionless tube doesn't mention it the tube I would buy would have a "sealed radial ball bearing" like this tube:

http://www.protaper.com/contents/pro...bes/index.html

I friend has this Pro Taper throttle tube on a KTM and it feels very smooth and refined, you'd have to experience it to fully understand possibly.

I will undo the return cable temporarily though to see just how much drag that that relieves.
From what I gather the type of tube that fits the KLX is the XR/XL tube but have to go to single cable.

I dont find a problem with the frition or pull but do find a problem with the excess slop the stock one has & the Vortex has it too. I mean actual slop on the bar not free play.

I removed my push cable and it feels so much better...
It just wasn't doing anything good as far as I could tell - only adding to the friction.

Meh - stuck throttle ain't nothing to worry about - that's what the clutch is for.

Me either, it takes little effort to pull the throttle.
The stock throttle is just cheap and you can feel that, these precession tubes are solid and feel real nice. I guess my question is if anybody had installed one on their KLX and which one they used? since no company makes a KLX specific version. One drawback though is that you can’t use these tubes with bar end mount hand guards.

ZX, while that one does have a bearing in there it would have to match the dimensions of the stock tube. If you measure the bars to be sure they are 7/8" and then measure inside the stock throttle tube you could just order (2) 7/8"id by X od bearings fromwww.mcmastercar.com for much less than the aluminum tubes and you could still run bar end mounted handguards.

In fact I might just look into it tonight.

Have you unscrewed the two screws that hold the throttle to the bar and then tighten them back up? When I start to feel a little binding in the throttle I do this and it makes it smooth again.
