Default frame gaurds

Anyone know if these will fit an 09 KLX? Doesn't list it but thought the frames in that area are identical.

Where do they get mounted? At the linked listing it mentions that the pictures are not necessarily what you're buying, may be just a similar but different item.

Does anybody else think it's silly to put carbon fiber frame guards on a bike with a steel frame?

yeah, so why would you put aluminum guards over a steel frame? Maybe I'm not thinking of the right purpose for a frame guard? I was under the impression that a frame guard protects against wearing, which would make sense on a softer metal frame like aluminum. I guess they could be useful in keeping the paint from wearing off on a steel frame?

It just basically protects from your frame paint from coming off and knicks and scratches. You can buy clear stricker sheets for mx bikes that do the same thing. Hell, new kawi motocross bikes come with clear patches where your boot would rub on the frame. You can buy them aftermarket. Or go to your local graphic design place and get a sheet of whatever color you want and make your own. If you can use scissors you got it made haha. You can get carbon fiber sticker paper or aluminum-looking paper. Lots of possiblities!

I've seen sand paper type grip tape used like the stuff on skateboards, better yet the rubber style grip tape that was used on G&S skateboards... less abrasive on the boots, alot cheaper than the guards
