Default "Flat spot"?? Help!

Hi Y'all...

Big ups to everyone on this site for posting such good info! I've had my '07 for a month or so now, and am shredding with it (relatively speaking of course). I've done the "usual suspect" list of mods, but am getting a little "bump" when I accelerate... it's not all the time, but it's annoying. I'll be revving through the rpms, and the bike will stutter for just a second, a hiccup if you will. Usually happens between 6-6.5k, but also at lower RPMs, and always on the throttle, never during roll off.

I've punched out the last baffle on the stock can, and plan on eventually going with a slip on. Could this be a factor?

I'm wondering if I'm not rich enough on the main? Or maybe a 125 instead of 128? or perhaps my needle is set incorrectly? ANY suggestions/help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Hmmmmm not sure about that one, I had the shop do all my work about 8,000 miles ago, and its been flawless. Someone on here will have an answer soon. Congrats on the best bike ever, and welcome to the forums.

She's not gettin enough petro. Go with a Keihn #130 main at least. #132 would be better. See what that does. Put the needle on the middle clip at least. And turn that air/fuel screw out at least 2 3/4 turns to a full 3 turns. With a K&N, baffle drilled out, and that KDX snorkel acting like a RAM AIR scoop you may have to bump up to a 38 pilot maybe....but I'd try going out further with the #35 stock pilot that you have.

See how all that works.

I recently had to bump up to a #135 from a #130 because it got colder here. She really runs now. However, when the temp drops below 50 degrees F and I'm running in the mid range for an extended period of time it eeeeeeeeeeeever so slightly misses. The needle wants me to drop'r another clip. Just didn't get around to doing yet, been busy lately.

Go the third clip on the needle or up the main jet one size. Try needle first. (No need to remove the carb'.)

True Dat

My 09 has started to spit/cough since it has gotten cold..Past month probably..

Used to be 8200 in 5th gear only...Tonight it was 4th gear at 6200 then 6400rpmz..7 degrees was pretty chilly...

I just got my bike back from a valve check...All was good....Figured Id go to 3.5 turns with my 130 jet...Its a 2.75 now..I even pulled off the expressway for back roads tonight because of it.......

If you are going over three turns you should be looking at going to a richer pilot jet I think.??

Yeah he should, but whos gonna make him? Hes a big boy and he can do what he wants. lol

7 degrees! where the hell you live son? Canadia? It hasn't gotten that cold here in PA yet, usually it doesn't and if it does its rare...but if was my bike would be parked. Not only from freezing but possibility of ice on the road. Ice and motorcycles don't mix.

Pretty sure he's talking in Celcius, so a little farther to go for freezing. Could be wrong, though.

Thanks y'all! I will make the suggested changes and post results. On a similar note, are you guys generally using the factory spark plug or the hotter version? I've ordered iridium versions of both, and am thinking of running the 7 in winter, and the 8 in warmer weather. WNC is odd... we've had 29 degree mornings and 75 degree afternoons in the last 10 days... and that's farenheit btw I see I also need a cooler signature and avatar...
