first, second, then nothing (shift problems)

I think that if the lever has full movement and it won't select the next gear, it will need dismantling to properly ascertain what's gone wrong.
Sorry to say that.
It's a reasonably big job to get to the gear box.

Just try this.
Put it in gear, pull the clutch in, and push it backwards.
When you get a bit of speed up, let the clutch out.
Try and jolt the gear box if you get my drift.
I'm not confident that something isn't broken though.

thanks for the help, but shes going to the stealership crying warranty all the way there. ill update on whats wrong and if it might happen to yours.

I read about this in the troubleshooting and transmission sections of the service manual. Even if it's something simple, it is still not anything I would want to tear into. Didn't even feel remotely confident that I could do the job.

Bike is now back. luckly covered under warrenty. as far as the problem, bad shift star. dont know if this is limited to my bike or not, but i think four stroke works will have another customer is some time.
