sometimes if the bladder on top isnot in perfect; you can get this same thinghappening with the clip on pos. 3-4. Take your time-
it can be frustrating [&:]to get that rubber back in just right.

I guess what I'm trying to say...... if you change the needle and still have the same problem [] don't get too pissed
it could be the darn rubber! [:@]

sounds like you got it handled!
I'm so frustrated after today!!!! I found the vacume leak, it was for the nipple to the EVAP stuff I removed, the cap I caped it with came off. Good, the bike starts now, excellent. I then take the top of the carb off to change the needle position. Ok, put in on the #4 position. Started the bike, idles and starts great. It has NO power and does not want to rev out at all!!!

I'm thinking, ok, it's way to rich maybe. So move to clip 3, not any better, so I moved it back to where I had it (#1) when it was running mostly fine, still, same thing, the bike won't even rev past 8k. Basically at this point, the only thing that was different from the original post is that I fixed the vacume leak! Why is the bike not reving? It seems like the slide isn't moving or something.

I was thinking I wasn't getting the bladder right and it wasn't building vacume to pull up the slide, I triple checked the damn thing after each install, seems to be fine. I went by to purchased a new spark plug, thinking, maybe, just maybe, I may have fouled it running it like I was. (I know, uncommon on 4 strokes).

I have tomorrow off, I will probably be working on this thing all day. I'm about ready to put the stock needle in just to get it running "decent".

Have I mentioned I hate CV carbs yet?

Thanks for the help so far guys.

Corey

Hopefully you didn't tear the diaphragm... Could it have been damaged or have you been super careful with it?

I hope so to, but its the only thing making sense. I have been very careful with it. Got the spark plug, I'll report back tomorrow.

when you say "it doesn't rev out"...does it stumble and sputter or does it just bog and decrease rpm?....calm down sir...their are easy fixes for everything on that carb...It's a really simple one.

Corey, I don't want to sound like a broken record, but I haven't read that you have tried it with the airbox lid back on yet. At wide open throttle, you aren't using the needle at all, so I doubt that's your problem. You are on main jet only. At least give the lid a try and see if it gets better or worse. If it's better, but not as good as it should be, you know you are on the right track anda larger main jet may be all you need to polish it off. Then you can back down to mid range, tip-in, etc. and sort those parts out if needed.

Hang in there, pal. We've all been there. There is life on the other side...

The main does not really come into play until 3/4+. It sounds like an installation issue somewhere. The bike can run with no lid, I have done it with both Kawasaki & DJ parts.

So today I decided to take the carb out so I could really get my hands on it, instead of working on the carb on the bike.. When I took the cap off, sure as hell, the diaphragm wasn't seated right. That was why it wouldn't rev, It couldn't build enough pressure to lift the slide. Used some blue silicone to help hold the diaphragm in the groves, worked great!

When I mean "it wouldn't rev" Basically, it was extremely sluggish, but not poping or anything, just felt like I was riding a 4 stoke weed eater or something

The bike is running very good now, even with the airbox lid off. I'm getting a little poping on decel, so I think I'm going to move it to #4 (its at 3 now).

Do you guys think I should go up to a 132 main? the top part of the rev range seems slightly sluggish. Currently running a 128.

Thank you again everyone!

Great news. We never know what's wrong for sure until it is fixed. I'm glad you got it. Way to hang in there, Corey.

Yea, I agree it'll run with the lid off. In fact, if you can get it jetted right it has the potential to build more maximum power simply because it can pump more air. My point was that it is a sudden and very large change with the lid off and in my experience, very difficult to dial in. But every bike and every situation sure has its own personality, doesn't it? Looks like we can go on with our rat killin' now that Corey is back in the saddle.
