A few questions
Been awhile since I've posted. Just had a couple questions for you guys. First, here's a couple pics of my plug after 4000 miles, how's it look? I know, I know, it's long over do but what do you do?
Second question, my bike is back to not starting again. Have to do the tip over thing but it was never a problem in warmer temperatures and now it is. The thing is easy as hell to jump start which works fine but a little of a pain. Any ideas? I think I would like to get a kickstarter for this bike as I am tired of the starting adventures and tipping method, which doesn't always work either. Any info on the particular kick started for an 07KLX? Could it have anything to do with repacking my exhaust? Thanks.

Look up posts by TNC...he addresses this starting issue with a recomendation to open up the starting circuit hole just a bit. Until you do that, I doubt you REALLY want a kick starter! It's not the starter that's causing the difficulty!

All I can add is that I'd spring for the Iridium version of our stock NGK plug while you're in the market for one. It should be the same plug number but has an IX suffix at the end if my memory serves me. I went awhlie without changing my plug too and installed the NGK Iridium among other things and it really smoothed my rough running KLX out.
The guy at the dealership said he thought the iridium was a bit of an overkill. But my motto is "anything worth doing is worth overdoing." But you're at least due a plug change from the look of the pic. Good luck.

dacoontz, isn't that already a precious plug of some kind there? A little hard to tell in the pic.
But if you want to solve the hard starting problem once and for all, drill the starter jet that's pressed into the carb with an .018" drill bit with a hand held bit holder. The stock starter jet is on the slightly small side and drilling it out a tiny bit totally removes any cold starting issues. It works.

Correct, it is an Iridium NGK plug. It didn't ever help obviously. So if drilling out the starter jet in the carb then if I get the big bore kit with the higher end carb that bill blue sells then that would likely fix my problem too at a lot more cost of course.
Thanks for the reply guys. It looks like it's time to once again pull the carb, yippee.

If you're going to get the BB kit and the pumper carb soon, then perhaps drilling the starter jet on your stocker isn't worth it. I'm just saying that drilling that starter jet on the stock carb will cure your cold start problems with the stock carb...period. I think I'd run the OEM carb for a bit if you get a BB kit and see how you like that setup. If you want more power after that, you can spend the extra cash on the pumper.
