Yeah it was 40 cents for a long time . Maybe 10 years ago they took out about every other toll booth, installed the IPASS system, raised the tolls, and raised the tolls some more.

AFAIK, the field is always energized, waiting for your RFID device to respond. Moving through it will send the signal to the receiver. It shouldn't matter if you're walking through it - as long as you have the transponder on your person.

The state of Ill. sent me a bill for unpaid tolls and nearly ended up getting my liscense suspended in Indiana as according to them they had pictures of me not paying at the toll roads. I was guilty until I could prove myself innocent. The hardest part was getting to talk to anyone intellegent in their BMV. nearly impossible. They had a picture of a plate with all my numbers in it, only problem was the were two extra that I never had but like I said it was very difficult to prove. The one thing I will never do again is have anything to do with Ill.

On my 250sf I just stuff the EZ pass transponder in the little compartment above the speedo/tach and behind the front plastic about the headlight and I just make is face the way in should stick the the windshield and it reads no problem through the tolls. Never had any issues with it
