extra fuel

My only concern here is that the if the bottle leaks in the muffler you had better put on the gas to keep the flames at bay

How do you ensure that they won't get jostled out of the cages? Maybe run some bungie cord from one side to the other through the cap? Have you done any research on using water bottles as fuel containers? I swear I read a thread on ADV about it being a bad idea...MSR fuel bottles will also fit in the cages.

Those cages will never take any kind of bumps, if you're planning on taking them off-road at all. The bottles will be gone, gone, gone... in a couple minutes!!! That's not gonna matter anyways, since water bottles are a LOT thinner material, and the rubber seals cannot handle fuel well. They're not vented like fuels bottles either... Still wondering why they were so cheap???
BTW - Wolfman makes some very nice bottle holders for 32 oz. MSR bottles...

- been doing many 60 to 200 miles rides with the bottles mounted sideways....haven't had any leaks...but, the bottles are pressurized, so need to open carefully and not overfill
- was little worried about the bottle above the exhaust, but it's mounted high and away...bottle was cool to the touch...
- these tacx bottle cages are from my mountain bike and roadbike...i've used many different cages in the past...these seem to hold the bottles extremely well and tight...bottles almost snap in place and snap out to remove...

when i need lot more fuel....couple clean large gatorade bottles works fine too....just use and toss....any large-mouth bottle works fine (don't overfill)....small top bottles release the pressure too quickly....works, but just be careful when opening or fill much less...

Be careful filling those bottles at the gas station, not being a Gasoline approved container might get you a ticket especially in Kali. Another point is making sure the plastic and the rubber seals are gas proof. I have seen a lot of plastic get eaten away (chemical reaction) by gas.
