I put on an HMF slip-on muffler (comes in several styles), the price was just a little over $220. I did have to tweak it a little to make it fit right though. The HMF makes a very deep throaty sound and is probably the largest of all the mufflers available to the KLX250, which makes the bike look more like a 650! Did all the carb/airbox mods and it runs hard and strong.

You can check it out on my website at:

what kind of tweaking did you have to do?

also what other mods did you do? (carb stuff)

The HMF slip-on muffler mounts too close to the rear fender, so I had to put a 1" bolt extender (ACE Hardware $1.50) on the muffler mounting bracket to move it out and away from the fender. It came out perfect and the pipe looks major bad-*** from behind. All the carb mods are listed below which also wasn't too hard to do, especially if you follow the step-by-step photos shown on the HMF site. The bike with mods is going to get me a ticket if I don't stop acting like a 19 year old on it. I'll drop some more photos on my website.

I bought the HMF and after it not fitting correctly I returned it. It hit the rear buddy pegs, leaked at the headerpipe connectionand as stated it rubs the rear fender if you dont add a long spacer which worried me for offroad use. I then bought the two-bros and have been happy ever since.

I would have gone with the Two-Brothers slip-on if I had known what I know now. Good looking muffler too!

No, it will not....unless you buy the headpipe for a KLX300...or the headpipe sold at FSW.

im assuming their exhaust they list is a slip on also.

ok so im pretty sure i want a slip on, and since big gun isnt that, its hmf, fmf, or two bros. i think i like the two bros the best but i dont want to have to wait forever. does anyone run the fmf powercore4 slip on? if so how do you like it? or does anyone have an opinion about fmf as a company and their products?
