exhaust and jetting

well im going to be getting an exhaust for my 250 soon, just wanted people to chime in on what they think about theirs (slip on and full) but im thinking of a slip on, either two bros or big gun. id def like to hear from people that have these two but if you have other suggestions im all ears

also does anything else need to be done? like rejetting? cause im looking at doing that soon, and if the exhaust needs it, just an excuse to go ahead and do it now.

thanks

I love my Two Brothers, looks and sounds cool (see movie clip link below). Go ahead and rejet and do the other free mods. Nothing else, a way to getcomfortable working on your bike. I noticed a step up in power after just the rejet, then another one with the slip on when it came a couple weeks later.

RE: exhaust and jetting

Installed a Pro Circuit 496 a few minuted ago. Fits like a glove--15 minutes at most to install (I already rejetted for my 300R pipe). Having riffen all of around the block I cant comment on much more. It is a little louder at idle (good & its a better tone--less agricultural) than my 300 pipe, seems about the same when reving (good didi not want loud). The 300 pipe is pretty much stock sounding at idle but gets raspy when you rev it. It is definitly quieter than most pipes on the market but a litle louder than I figured it would be based on the advertising.

Yes you will need to rejet with any performance pipe--really, on the KLX at least, there is no point in changing the exhaust if you dont match the carb.

I've got the full Muzzy, and I like it but after 2500 miles I think its time to re-pack, its getting pretty loud. I jetted mine to 132 and 40 plus running the air box lid off. It rocks, especially with the gear changes to 13 front and 45 in the back.;)

Any of the slip-ons will require a re-jetting. My settings are listed in my signature. I chose the two-brothers, it fits perfect, looks and sounds good.

I'm just barely eligible to chime in here. I'm still working out my jetting for the fmf q2 with a fsw header. I've got a 122 main, 38 pilot, N1TC with the clip on the second groove and the stock F/A screw at 1 7/8 turns out. If the noise level is a concern you might consider this pipe setup (of course your jetting may differ). Some are saying that the fmf is quiter than other pipes. I can't say if this is true because I haven't heard any others.

RE: exhaust and jetting

I put on an HMF slip-on muffler (comes in several styles), the price was just a little over $220. I did have to tweak it a little to make it fit right though. The HMF makes a very deep throaty sound and is probably the largest of all the mufflers available to the KLX250, which makes the bike look more like a 650! Did all the carb/airbox mods and it runs hard and strong.

You can check it out on my website at:

RE: exhaust and jetting

is the pro circuit a full system or slip on?

RE: exhaust and jetting

It isa slip on only but you need the 300 header.
