The pipe is made of mild steel ..... nothing special. I used a small TIG machine and also a wire feed.

As far as JB weld goes, I don't think that it will hold up, besides that, its against my religion to us it

Can you drill the first baffle w/o re-jetting?

I got my carb rejetted and everything put back together this weekend...... WOW what a difference! The pipe is still pretty quiet. It sounds good (much better than before) but could stand to be a little louder. I'm running with no snorkle at all and the intake noise is louder that the exhaust. The performance is as everyone who has made the carb mods has stated, the difference is like night and day! I did change my pilot jet to a 40, which has not been reported very much. This thing will wheely by just cranking the throttle in 1st and 2nd. But as far as the pipe modification goes, It does sound much better and performs better but I'll still upgrade the pipe eventually.
BTW Starcycle has officially made their way to the top of my s**t list. The pipe that I bought off ebay 3 weeks ago is still at least 2weeks away and they have promised me a full refund 2 different times. When I called today I was treated rudely and told that they would get around to it soon. If I ran my business like this I wouldn't have one to run. rant off

I just did this exact same mod to my muffler. Only I didnt drill the second baffle. I used a pc of 1-1/8" id stainless pipe. Over all I would say that the sound is a little better than stock , not much louder. Cant say that there was much of a performance increase since I have the carb and air box mods already. There seems to be some popping when decellarating though. Not sure how to remedy that just yet, jet or needle clip change I suppose. Will try to post some pics if I can figure out how.

BTW as far as the drilling of the first baffle plate that everyone has been doing, when I took that out it looked as if that wouldnt have any effect on performance since it already has vents that go around it in a pinwheel type design. Just my opinion.

I'm pretty sure that the way to cure the popping during deceleration is to change the pilot jet. I put a 40 in mine and have no popping at all.

I'm on the Muzzy backorder List as well. Jim get's his muzz straight from muzz www.sabinperformance.com and It could be next ups delivery or next month, maybe even the month after. I released my anxiety on the muffler with much less restraint. Jim has some 2ft long 3/8" bit which sizzled right into the rear of that pipe. Once the center little pipe sticking out was unstable enough, I slammed it with a hammer. Imagining that it could cause a pinch further inside, I set down the hammer and pulled it back into position with some channel locks. It sounds fine, no big crackin backfires, but it is a few db's louder.

Before going at it with the drill, I asked Jim (in the middle of milking 200hp out of some crotch rocket with a $5k muzz cyclinder/piston job on the dyno) if it was going to make a difference and he replied "we'll soon find out cuz your not gonna feel better until you dril it".

There isn't much difference, however, the jet kit is in today and I'm pleased to hear that the jet kit makes it pull up in 1st & 2nd without any clutch play.

At 800miles the worn knobbies will have less hop on the Dyno today.

ThankYou all for the info - I'll be back this evening with a full Performance Report on the 250 off the floor moped, relieved of it's once moped status.

Later,
Rustin
