Engine Swap?
#3
Doubt the 450 will fit without a lot of fab work..
As far as swap, from what I understand any KLX250 or 300 motor from 97 on will bolt right into the frame of the 250s.. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Easier to just swap the cylinder/piston out if you want a more CC's.. Unless your motor grenaded or something

There was another recent post about putting different engines in different frames. When you go outside the "series" engine and frame combination to another series model engine or frame, you almost always open a huge can of worms, requiring some heavy duty fabrication...and knowledge. Chainline issues, cooling system plumbing, and other issues can give even an experienced guru some real headaches. I've seen a couple of dirt bikes done in the past with one model chassis and another model engine, and both were air cooled engines. The best I saw was a Honda CR motocross frame with an air cooled XR250 motor. It was sweet, but it was a serious and time consuming project.

XR200+ motor in a CR125 frame, was WAY more work than one would think. Everything had to be moved, modded or custom built. Airbox, tank, lower frame tubes, mounts, pipe etc. With all the good bikes out there now I wouldn't even consider a engine swap.
