Default e-start button

Has anyone else had the e-start button base pop out of its hinge point? I have had this happen twice, I may have been pressing it a little harder than necessary, but even so...when it pops out of position..it remains engaged (even when the bike has started)-NOT GOOD for starter. I have been searching for a replacement assembly (one that has a push in type button), but have not found one...any ideas? Thanks.

Someone in FL had swapped thiers out...... I think it was Finger Mullet.... maybe not.... u can just go to radio shack or some electronic place and get a push button... ask Brian.... lol

another thing to think about, when we were riding in the sand, chris dumped his bike a few times in the sand, and the right side of the bars went into the sand, and pushed the kill switch in, and because of the sand the button got stuck in with the sand jammed in there... took awhile to get it out to be able to start the bike again....

Just read mooredan's left -side switch replacement...I may look into that switch he installed as well...but if the switch on his unit was a kill switch..then I imagine it is not a momentary switch..I gotta ask him

Hay Jason mine came off after a fall, never did find it, i put a good quality kill switch on and used it as a starter buttonuntil
my new one came in, but i liked the location of it so much i cancelled my order for the new one.

Yep, it was this cracker, ask and ye shall receive. btw do not use a radio shack switch unless it's just a temporary fix. lol

I did quite a bit of research before modding my switch. Blue Sea Systems makes the best marine switches on the market hands down.....and if it's good enough for my boat 20 miles offshore where I can't walk home it's definitely good enough for my bike where I can always hike it out.

You want a Blue Sea Systems "Panel Switch" Part No. 8200
[ul][*]Perfect for generator starters, bilge pumps, horns, wipers, engine controls and any other application that requires switching action other than ON-OFF or different pole configuration separate from circuit protection[*]Panel switches mount in Blue Sea Systems’ A-Series Toggle Circuit Breaker panels[*]Supplied with mounting adapter for standard 5/8" circuit breaker mounting hole[*]Nickel-plated brass and phenolic non-corrosive construction [/ul]
A pic of the switch from the website

And a pic I just took of it on my bike.

I've had it on my bike for over a year now and not one problem, it's been submerged in saltwater, mud, clay, sugar sand.....you name it....it's tough as hell.

Here's a link to their website and the switch,I don't think you can buy direct butyour local or web based marine store will be able to order it if they don't have it.

http://bluesea.com/category/4/productline/overview/220

PS I think it was about $20.

That's not a bad idea, relocating the switch to the dashboard.

Might do that myself, I believe I have a few switches laying around from failed electronics projects.

If anything, I can steal an old radio from a family member and tear into it

Update...I was in town today and happened to be near The Source (Radio Shack)...yes I bought the radio shack switch..but it is rated for 3-amps whichI feel is heavy enuf for the current passing through it..plus it was only $4.00. I also picked up some self-adhesive velcro to complete another little project I had been tinkering with, a plexi-glass cover for the headlite..now if it doesn't melt we'll be all set

Here are the pics for those interested.....
