2 purposes

one is supposed to reduce vibrations
and other is I guess if you drop the bike could help protect the grips

I don't know who said or asked but.........I LIKE bar ends for a few different reasons. I keep my bike in my dads garage, he's super picky about space, and EVERY TIME I park the beast, I have a big eye screw that I draw it into. In other words, his garage is sheet rocked, and when I park my 250s, I have a tie down strap that I hook to the bars, and suck it up tight!! He nags about the sheetrock I also ride really close to a few good friends of mine's low riders....Imagine a rubber grip ending your life???!!! And one other reason....I have an aluminum plate that I usually put under my kick stand when I park on hot, weak surfaces....and if and when that gives way, my grips are torn to shreds. Also, I like lots of room for my clutch hand!!! AND BAR ENDS PROVIDE THAT Kind of like B.J. hookers for your sled for winter?! You've got room there if you get in trouble. B.J. Hookers...= Brian James Bryce, I grew up with him in Hutchinson MN, his shop to this day is in Cosmos MN. So ya.....there's a ton of reasons why I like bar ends, some people live to get nuts...ever rode in between to pimped out S10 low lows doing 80mph?? A handle bar grip will end things quickly

And when your grip on the throttle side is junk, it tends to interfere with your throttle tube. I HATE THAT. Hopefully everyone on here has a ZETA High Speed throttle tube!! If you end up in my circumstances, not only are bar ends the way to go, they serve an awesome purpose for the way I ride

I was ice fishing, and didn't see all the replys. I have pro taper 7/8 CR Hi bars. Inner diameter is 9/16....Imagine drilling into aluminum with an 11/16 bit?? Good luck. I might be able to take the rubber bushings off and use half inch hose with different size washers and bla bla bla, or shave them down. Or....just get Rizoma Conicles My V1 Bar Ends are still for sale.
