Man be careful at BBRSP by yourself. We were there last month. Going back next month

 

Yeah, I think I wouldn't ride much of this place without a SPOT while riding alone. There was only one place I turned around, and that was on that Alamosa piece of trail just northeast of The Solitario that goes up to the farthest northeast corner of the park. I got in there a few miles and came upon a steep uphill that was sketchy sidehilling. The outside segment of the 2-track had just about washed away with a really deep erosion rut. There were just a few inches of trail still clinging to the inside, and if your tires stuck to that sliver of dirt for the 30 foot ascent, you were probably OK. If you slipped into that huge rut, it was big and deep enough that it was doubtful you'd get the bike out by yourself. It wasn't anything that would kill you or probably even hurt you, but the bike would've been stuck good in this slot. I walked it and came to the conclusion that it would take 2 guys to get a bike out of it. One day when I stopped by the HQ, the ranger told me that 4WD people don't even take that trail anymore. I could tell because it was grown up badly in spots when I made my way in there. It's times like those that I miss riding with someone...just that once-in-awhile situation where it will take more than one person to extricate a bike. It's a fun place to ride.
