Yeah motor cycles are not allowed on these they are mostly old RR grades and some Forest Service roads. The Forest Service road are fine with as you say a license vehical. But the trails are off limits. Its not big deal because like I say we have hundreds and hundreds of miles of Forest Service roads to ride.

Actually, most of the time, an ATV will cause less damage to the turf, since it has wider tires and twice as many, so, less pounds per square inch to dig in with.

Some of the worst trails I have seen were either an established motorcycle trail that was used in many years of enduro racing and those left by horses. Horse trails through mud can be nearly impassable by foot and I would not want to attempt them on a motorcycle, either. But, they are "green" so to speak and horse owners tend to have more money to lobby with.
