DO I NEED TUBES for my new D606s ?
They don't have the TT (need a tube) designation by them on the Dunlop site. Do I or can I use tubes anyways? Give me a quick tutorial, this is the first time I'll be doing dirt bike tires (I HATE ATV tires, looking forward to the bigger diameter rims !)
When i got my Kenda rear tire i ordered a new thicker heavy duty tube, then when i changed it to the D606 i reused the kenda heavy duty tube, but i reused the stock tube up front..... alot of guys order the heavy duty tubes so as lesslikely to get a flat...
+1 on the Kenda heavy tubes, I can't remember the sizes I ordered, the front one is siting in the shop here at work, I'm drinking coffee right now, (no surprise there) I'll look in a few minutes. I have a brand new set of Kenda K270's in the shop and a tire changer and 4 irons, it made it so easy to change the back tire. I also am running a 606 on the back. The front one is still the original tire with 4200 miles on it. It still looks like it has 50% tread left. I guess the ratio is pretty close to two back tires for every one front tire.
I dont like to stop for flats or sliced valve stems...
If you have the tires off anyway, and doa bit of off road riding (I'm guessing since your moving to the D 606's), my recommendation would be the ultra heavy tubes and rim-locks (like 7 bucks each) to be bullet proof.

Can you steer me to a site showing what you mean by heavy duty tubes/rim locks? Is the 'rim lock'a feature of the tubes? What size tubes for front and rear did you get? Is that spec'd in the owners manual?
I only have 800 miles on the tires, but the rear is over 1/2 gone and I hate the fronts. I rarely go on road (trip for gas or McD's !) and spin the rear tire alot inrough terrainto keep me 'afloat', if you know what I mean! Anyways, being 40+ with family I like my 8 -10 times out a year (3-4 dual sport runs in there are my goal)to be the best they can, and these stock tires, even though they're best I've seen on a stocker, can be better.

The tubes vary based on the tire size.. (ie 100/100, 120/100 etc.)
sorry, the tire tube one must have been a site only box because it had mutiple tubes.
Heres the 120/100 tube link to give you an idea:

search on "heavy duty tire tubes" and the page with more options will come up

if ya get rim locks chances are the tires will need to be balanced also... i had mine balanced after adding rimlocks and i got enough lead to go catfish fishin for a coupla years
lol
lol
thats a rim lock, it goes inside the tire, and clamps the tire to the wheel... the threaded stud goes through a hole in the wheel, You can see the vavle stem..... and the rim lock to the right
yeah, good point jsac, it depends on how much off road riding you do...
If your mostly off road, and dabble in sand where your dropping the air down, then rim locks are a must IMHO.
If your mostly riding on street and firm dirt and have the air pretty much at spec (20 to 22 PSI) then the rimlocks will work against you at higher speeds....
So yeah, it does depend and those are very important considerations... I would definately get the heavy duty tubes in any case....
