Default DJFields - I Need a Bit of Clarification

Don,

You made a comment:

"When the OE Head pipe has the flange mod done, it works great."

You've got me very interested now. What is the Flange MOD?

A link for imformation would be excellent.

I'm thinking of being the second person here with the HMF exhaust. Their support is now doubled!

Marty
The Exhaust Port Flange I.D. of the OE head pipe is welded from the inside. Depending on manufacturing variablity, the amount of weld can vary. This will cause a restriction in flow. Mine was fairly significant. Basically, I took a die grinder, removed it so it was nice and smooth, and had a skilled welder friend touch up the joint from the outside. You can't add a lot as the flange will not bolt back up properly, but as you should know, you don't need gobs of weld for a strong joint It's a very straight forward mod to let the exhaust gas flow freely. When you remove the head pipe to look inside you'll see when I'm reffering to instantly.
Hope this Helps.

Thanks for the replies y'all.

When I get a few minutes of spare time, I'll remove the head pipe and take a look.

Not to sound like an a-hole or nothing, but I wonder if all those people claiming the oem header pipe makes more power than a BigGun, Muzzy, or Fourstrokeworks header know this. LOL
