Default Disconnect TPS?

On my KTM, the TPS retarded the timing and slowed the bike down a bit. A lot of us simply unhooked the TPS.

Is that the case on the KLX?

One of the few things i've not tinkered with is the TPS.

I was under the impression that the TPS sensor tells the ecu the throttle position in relation to the injection MAP to deliver the correct fuel mix.

Keep us posted if you do any experimenting!

Joel, the TPS they are talking about is for a carb. not FI. On my old WR426 I disconnected it to get ride of a surge while riding at a constant speed. No clue what it will do on the KLX.

i belive it has to do with advancing the cdi on carbed bikes but not 100% sure i know the crfx bikes have them too and a few others as well i would think its doing someting beneficial in there or they wouldn't have bothered with it but if you have an efi bike i would keep it as ip most likely has a job its doing

I should have mentioned that my KLX is a carbed 2007. I agree that if the bike were FI'd I wouldn't touch a thing.

It may be totally different for the KLX (that's why I'm asking smarter folk) but on the KTM I think the TPS slightly retarded the timing to keep the bike within emissions standards AND to help keep the front wheel on the ground since it was billed as an enduro.

Maybe it's totally different on the KLX.

yes they took out the TPS on the new generation KLX's.

Raycour on the forum here did some work with the 06-07 CDI on a test bench and said he couldn't see any effect on the timing with the tps unit. Seems like Kawi was going to add a KTRIC like system then scratched it at the last minute but left the sensor and wiring ?

I think they still have it, they just mounted it lower to move the COG.
