Default Desperete need of Cam info? and 2009 FI test ride

Greetings all,

Long time no posting as I've been off riding a bit. As some of you know I ride a KLX 250s w/331 bore in Thailand/Laos/Cambodia.

Well the KLX spat me down and broke a leg in four places so now I have more metal and screws in the body. Both legs are held straight in this pic and you can see all is not well.

It took 3 1/2 hours in the back of some villagers pickup to get me out of the jungle. Since I've got so much down time now figured I'd rip apart the motor and see how the ole girl looks. I'll provide feedback when its apart. I've searched on the forum but could not find the answer in any postings, on WebCams own website or an email address for Webcams. soooooooooooo

Problem is I've misplaced the Cam Card from WebCams on the 101 grind (Larry Roesler grind cam). Does anybody know the valve adjustment spec on this cam??? Pretty please.

I tried the website but there is no email contact for me to get in touch with them. Curious if any kawasaki Forums posters could be of some assistance. Thanks in advance.

Took a spin with a group of 2009 FI KLX250's that they have in Thailand.

Ride report here: http://www.gt-rider.com/thailand-mot...008-t4622.html

Bottom line the bikes were trouble free but the FI provided no performance increases over the carbed models. When crashed or sometimes when simply turned off to get relit the KLX ignition key needed to be reset all the time. A bit of a pain.

Very interesting to hear that the FI doesn't offer much gain over the carb. I wonder how leaned out it is to meet emissions (if it has to over there in Asia). Not to mention the lack of availability of a PowerCommander-type unit. I'm kinda glad they didn't bring the FI over for the '09 here.

Can't offer any help, but I hope your leg heals up quickly.

I took my 331, w/cams, pumper carb, exhaust along for the ride and another friend brought along what they call over here and Honda XR250, but this one comes with electric start and all the street legal stuff, basically an XL 250.

The XR250 in a rolling drag race from 2nd gear up an incline into top gear against the KLX's w/ rider the same wieght ended up with a 100 yard advantage. Not trivial at all. The Asian XR trounced the Asian KLX. This KLX even had a 2 brothers muffler.

Sad to see kawasaki drag out this model with nothing new to the pot in almost ten years. The whole 09 bike is exactly the same frame, suspension, and motor as on my "98 model with only new plastics, sad but true. Talk about a company's ability to amortize their tooling cost eh?

Thanks for the kind words lostnite66.

Yeah, and here in Japan they put out a Suzuki 250SB which is the same bike as my '01 D-Tracker, only difference is they removed the "kawasaki" from the engine cover. It even says kawasaki on the frame sticker. This bike has been in the market since 1998, no major changes until the 09 (08 model here)

Hope your leg heals soon!

Once I had a Drag with my Uncle, he was on his XR250 Baja (the XR With Two Headlights,Bigger Tank etc. Everything else is identical). His bike couldnt even think of coming close to my Klx even.. Good times hehehe..

I wouldn't be sad about it, fuel injection is the wave of the future for dirt bikes. Its just kinda silly that it sounds like there isn't much gain in power vs. the simple, tried-and-true carburetor setup, in addition to the fact there isn't an ECU controller box available.
