Hope everybody is doing good and a wave to all the Old Timers out there
I will be stoping in more often. Sold the harley and thinking about that big bore upgrade more and more. Take care...

LV

Sold my KLX and I just happen to have a 340cc Thumper Racing big bore kit. One of the forum members in Canada is interested and I am going to check on shipping costs to him. If he doesn't take it I will let you know, if you are interested.

That was Marvin at Kustom Kraft - will bore and plate a stock 300cc cylinder to 331cc and send you the parts needed to complete the upgrade for about $450'ish or so. Bill Blue now also has an offering where he will bore and "sleeve" the stock 249cc cylinder and send you the parts needed to complete the upgrade. That can be cheaper since you don't already have to have purchased a KLX300 cylinder and purported to work just as well. Thumper Racing has a 340cc kit along the same lines as Bill Blue's sleeved version, I'm not sure about price.

And yes, we are still giving Iowaguy a hard time. No shortage of drama here.

+1 on the rubber caps

I would definitely recommend replacing those rubber caps every year. And a bolt check once a month.

I’m also a big fan of the TCLOC inspection before almost every ride. I learned it when I got my license last spring (for free!) at the PA Motorcycle Safety Program. You can read the manual here.

Those HELP brand plugs really sound like a bad product. You could probably make a more long-lasting plug by cutting a short piece of the old vacuum hose, pluggingone end with a bolt or the likes and putting a hose clamp on each end. It's not like looks are all that important in the area you speak of.

Looks like the Thumper Racing 340cc big bore kit is currently available. It includes: all new cylinder, piston, rings, pin, clips and gaskets. Also; the guy I bought it from included an assortment of valve shims which I will pass along with this deal.

Hey Brian

Riding a Ktm now huh. My things have changed around here. Think the 340cc upgrade is worth it even without putting on a pumper carb. What happened to your klx, not enough power for you....

Yeah, I think a 331 or 340 is worth it. It's a pretty inexpensive mod considering what it does. A pumper is great, but the CV carb works well too.

The KLX was fine, no problems at all, in fact DirtSurfer (Dave) bought it and I got to take a little ride on it at the NE Ride at the NJ Pine Barrens. It seems to be running just fine!

But I like my KTM, I just got the bug I guess and went orange. Runs great, rides great, it's everything I'd hoped it would be and then some.
