converting S to Sf
just picked up some sumos from mikezx10 today. i have the lowering links, kickstand, caliper bracket and correct chain length. aside from the normal conversion questions what is the stock height of the forks on the SF. about how far down in the triples is the bike coming with?
anyone who has done this swap what have you guys done to further better the ride with the S shocks. ie drop forks or raise forks, lower sag, ect

As far as I know its the internals of the forks that are different between the S and SF.
I don't think there is really much you can do to make the suspension stiffer besides putting some spacers in the forks and adjusting the preload on the rear shock.

That's for the reply. I don't mind the S suspension so far. Have about 50 miles on it. Some potholes are harsh but that's to be expected. The bike sits about right without adjusting the forks. I was just curious if they were higher or lower in the triples than the S
Also how far off (mph) is the speedo from making the swap?

This is a nice little gizmo called the SPEEDODRD is for correcting your speedo:

The Y1 will fit the KLX & is a simple plug n play! I know a couple of guys here that swap between the S & SF wheel setup & use this unit.

Yea but that thing is 80 bucks. At that point ur wasting your money cause a trailtech is 20 bucks more and has a lot more functions.
Its either that route or
Can you swap the speedo gear out?

there's no gear.... its all electric and prgrammed via the gauges. you either have to replace the guages or intercept the signal and reprogram.
Is your Tacho broken, what do you need a speedo for? Scared you might break the law?
Seriously I did the conversion and I just ignore the speedo. Any performance mods will usually correspond to your revs and powerband.
As far as suspension I am happy keeping the S travel and ride height. I changed both rear and front springs a while before doing the Motard setup, to get the sag and front end dive under control. The KLX handles superbly well as a Sumo, with some sticky rubber and stiffened suspension.
