I'd call that a very decent ride report Dan! Thanks for sharing!

I'd love to do a trip like that...maybe one day!

Yeah , great place to ride! I'd feel better if I had a riding buddy, especially since cell phone coverage is very spotty. I'd also like to find some riding out there that is single track. If anyone has that kind of info, please clue me in. Also would like to find some more accurate maps for the Forrest access roads. I have the De Lorme Gazetteer, but it's not that accurate, as far as names and places of the more obscure roads/trails. I probably need to get in contact with the respective forest offices. Again if anybody can clue me in, thx.

At the point where I jammed the bike in the snow on the Rollins Pass rd, I was probabbly a little over 11,000 ft. I was just up around the bend from Jenny lake. Ahead the railbed crosses the pass at 11,680 ft. Bike really ran great.

I will say that the last time (2yrs ago) I was out there the stock bike wouldn't even start at 8400ft. I tried different jets, but ended up getting it to run OK by removing the airbox lid completely.

Your heading to a fun spot. I wish I could get down there with my bike. We have done part of the Alpine loop (Ouray to Lake City) in the truck a couple times.
I know you will but stay safe and take pics.
Dan
