Cold starting issues, again
I went out to change the oil on my '06 and it wouldn't fire up. it has been sitting for a 2-3 weeks and its been bitter cold out (22f today). It did its usual run for .5-1sec and then die. would never actually start. besides drilling out the starter jet to .018, what tricks can i do to get it to run? it seems like it just needs more fuel in the carb.

draining the carb and adding fresh fuel worked perfectly. fired right up. this bike has never fired up that easy, ever. even when warm. i ran the carb out of gas before i parked it, hopefully it will do the trick

I drain the gas on the 250i if it's been a couple weeks. My KLX650 needed the carb drained if it sat for more than five days. 2 week old gas from the carburetor is hard to light with a match. So much of the aromatic additives evaporate out that it is pretty much junk. Small volume of fuel with large surface area for evaporation, where the tank doesn't have that issue.

Yea I find if my bike sits for more than about a week I need to flush the bowl out and it fires right up.
