Christmas is Early ! ! !
Didn't I tell y'all that MotoSports is a great place?
I was just sitting here, getting ready to start packing for a trip tomorrow up to "Tour de Tellico" when the doorbell rang. The FedEx guy was there with a big box from MotoSports!

I opened the box and guess what I saw?

My Acerbis 3.7 gallon KLX tank showed up today, as promised!

As I said, I'm off in the morning for a long weekend up in the hills of Tennessee riding dualsports all over the place! I was thinking about taking the KLX along instead of the KLR650. I decided to offer my second spot on the trailer to a buddy that's needs a ride up, so I could only take a single bike. That will be the KLX250S. I hope to get a chance to take pictures and put the tank on while I'm up there. Friday is scheduled for tech-day. I'm working on a few bikes that day!
See y'all in a couple of days!

if they'd make that to match the kawi green, i'd think they would sell a lot more. i'd buy one then, but i couldn't stand it if my bike had 2 different greens on it. that's just my anality i guess. it's the function i guess over the form on this one eh?

Haha I thought I was the only **** one. I agree 100%.

Color-mismatch notwithstanding, it looks like a beautifully crafted tank however.
Hey y'all, just got back from a fantastic ride and gathering up in Tennessee and must say the KLX did me proud
Got asked to do a tech-day on the KLR650, so I spent a few hours (mostly all day) upgrading Doohickeys, jetting and shimming needles, adjusting valves, installing brake lines, setting suspensions up and whatever folks needed doing.
Then I got a chance to put my new Acerbis tank on the KLX250. A few folks jumped in and gave me a hand. They said since I've been working on everyone else's bike, that they wanted to put my tank on.
How did that work out?
Very, very good! The tank basically fell into place! In all honesty it actually fits better than the stock tank does. You drop it in place, put in the bolt on the back, add a stud to hold the seat in place, put two bolts in through the side vents to secure the tank to the fram and finally add a couple of braces from the tank to the radiator mounts. Took about 30 minutes. Actually the mounting of the tank took less time that to read through the directions to figure out which hardware was to be used.
The tank comes with a fuel supply valve and it screws right into the bottom of the tank. About the only issue I can come up with on the tank is that the choke operation is being interferred with by the location of the fuel supply valve. Now that I'm home I will take a look at this. But since the mods, I really don't need the choke that much.
It was great to ride over a hundred miles and when I stopped to put gas in - had a nasty ride coming up and didn't want to find out that my fuel range was not what I thought it to be! - and it only took 1.4 gallons! I still had 2.3 gallons left in the tank! I am thinking 200 miles is going to be possible.
On another note, I found that the KLX250S will run the Cherohala Skyway - 9% grades - in 5th gear with the mod package installed! I think that is quite noteworthy! Simply roll the throttle on and it actually will accelerate up the hill!
There were several KLX250's at the event - 4 to be exact. One of the fellows wanted to do a drag race with me. After I trounced him badly, he came over to find out what I have done with the bike! He wants me to help him get his fixed up the same. I let him ride my bike and I think he still has a smile on his face!
Just think, a KLX250 that climbs hills like a mountain goat that can be ridden almost 200 miles.
With the tank installed, and the bike in the sunlight, it is really hard to see that everything does not match exactly.
Pictures will follow!

Great news, Marty. Glad the fit was as good as you had hoped. BTW, you should get 200 miles easy - I'm getting right at 200 with the 3.2 gallon IMS tank and I think you have .5 gallons more, so I would expect you get get upwards of 230 miles depending on the type of riding, perhaps a little less or a little more.
