your right Deej 30 seconds is waaaaaayyyy too long.... it is screamin' on cold oil.........I'm very **** about this......maybe others will call me your partner but it should fire and then drop to about 1500 at the most.......then idle on it
s own after a minute or so ....if not then you need some fine tuning.(no offense) to your tuning ability but you'll know when you have it.....and don't screw with your clip like so many others offer to suggestest.tinker with your mixture screw....fatten it up..(turn it out) or go one size larger,,,,,,#38-40.with a #40 go 2 turns out with stock displacement and a needle clip o #3......it'll almost start without the choke on warmer days....that's enough for now...if you need more info just pm me so i don't aggravate more people .....we can share the info later.

Yes, and truth be told I know less than zero about tuning a carb. That's why I let the shop racing mechanic do my work. Some people will say its a waste of money when you can do it your self, but 4000 miles after getting the Muzzy and having the carb jetted to 132 and 40 and who knows what the clip is or any other settings are, this bike runs flawless and has plenty of power to haul my big body around. Heck my wife's stock 2006 XT 225 scoots me up the hills pretty good as well. I mean sure it feels like half the power, but who cares as long as it gets you there. Plus I don't know if I commented on this yet, but a friend of mine who rides a lot and I went up a gravel road a few months back, and I let him ride my bike and I rode the wife's, he couldn't keep up with me, not because of power for sure, but I felt like the 225 since it was so much lower in the seat was way more stable on the loose gravel, in fact I was drifting every corner with full confidence. I wonder if that's why they are making the new KLX lower to handle better off road.
