Checked out some observed trials
On Sunday morning I decided to head up to Rock Hill (about 60 road miles from Eugene) to check out the trials competion. It was a chilly day, but the sun was out (around 50F). I thought I'd bring along an extra gas can since I was planning on wandering around a bit afterwards. I thought the cap might seep a little, but it turns out it seeps a lot. D'oh! I put the gas into the bike as soon as I could, but still I came home with my hands reeking of raw gas. (I ordered a Clarke tank this morning!)
After riding across the valley I hit some nice twisties along the way. Man this little bike is fun in the twisties, you just have to keep your momentum up.
Green on green... how could I resist?

On the way up to the top of Rock Hill. Further up, this road is littered with loose, baseball sized rocks. There's a reason why it's called Rock Hill. Fun going up, a little bit puckery coming back down.

Looking back across the southern Willamette Valley, towards home (Eugene, Oregon)

The trials riders were amazing. Hopping over boulders, between trees, and teetering on the brink of steep drops. Most of the bikes were Sherco's and GasGas. Pretty cool looking. There were also a few classic trials bikes, a plated Honda four stroke and a two-stroke Suzuki and a nice orange Montesa.

I went back down the hill to watch more riding, but turns out I missed most of the good stuff. I moto-ed around the trails a little and even caught some air off a cool table-top lip.

I scarfed a hot dog and a bag of Doritos and hit the road. It never did really warm up, but the sun was out, which was nice. I went up and over Sodaville road and down a hill back to Brownsville, catching some more nice twisties and some smooth gravel twisties that were perfect for powerslides. Yeehaw! (isn't this how you're supposed to break in a new bike? It's got 360 miles now)
Okay. This KLX250S just flat out rocks! And that's bone stock. How's it gonna be when I do a pipe and jetting? Braaap!
