I used the rockymountain primary drive o-ring chain on my klx400 and it has lasted a year so far and only stretched initially one click on the adjusters. It's in the mud and sugar sand and ridden pretty hard and it's relatively cheap with no maintenance. YMMV.

 

Looks like you can't go wrong with d.i.d. I got the professional did gold x ring chain 112 link. I have a chain breaker if I need to take off one for my 14 45 setup. It was $140 at motorcycle superstore, free shipping. Bike bandit wanted $158.

 

BelRay Superclean...every ride. Some rides only end up being maybe 20 miles and others turn out to be way over 100 when out in CO and UT.

 

Since someone brought up the ATV link. My team has 4 atv's we race, a DVX400, LTZ400, Kymco Mongoose 250 and 70. We run the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Primary Drive chain on all and am getting ready to put a 47 rear sprocket and chain on my 09 KLX250S. I Have been running these chains in GNCC racing and have the same chain on the DVX400 and Mongoose 250 since 08 and other than lubing and cleaning I have done nothing. No adjustment, no replacing, nothing. And we race for 2 hrs per race in dirt, mud. water, you name it and have never had a chain problem.

If you do a little research on the Rocky Mountain website you can find which Primary Drive is the same as the DID (Primary Drive 520 ORH Gold X-Ring Chain = DID 520 X-RING Chain). In fact I have had several people tell me DID makes the Primary Drive chains.

 

Holy crap, thats almost as much as i paid for my RK chain, front and rear sprockets

 

Iam going to go for a price match guarantee from motorcycle superstore, I found the same chain on oemcycle.com for $94! I will keep all of you updated. The chain is due for delivery tomorrow. If they don't price match I am going to send it back and order from oemcycle.

 

oemcycle is good people. I've ordered a bunch of stuff from them over the past couple of years. Ship time can take awhile since some of the parts they list are not actually "in stock", (this varies depending upon item and is usually shown in the "add to cart" info) but the price makes up for this inconvience IMO.

 

Gonna try it on my yz250. Why spend the extra $$ for a name?

 

Get this! A 120 link chain at oemcycle is $94 dollars, however they don't list a 112 link (which is $132) for a shorter chain. So in short, motorcycle superstore will not price match, even though their 120 link chain is $135. Motorcycle superstore did not seem to have very good customer service or loyalty when talking to them on the phone. So do your homework before buying a chain. And buy a chain breaker so you can order a cheaper longer chain.

 

Hmmm good to know. I will make sure to compare 120 link chain prices to the 110 link I actually need. Not much trouble to cut a chain down. The chain breaker and longer chain would probably cost as much together as your short chain did. Then you'd have a "free" chain breaker.
