wat size chain should i use if i get a 47 tooth sprocket and go with the 14/47 setup. i know i need a 520 but wat size exactly? 520x102,4,6,8 etc? or 520x84,6,8,90 etc?wat size chain did u all get. i'm lookin at rocky mountain atv/mc
Pardon my stupidity, but what are you guys getting from these sprocket changes exactly? I've read that 1st gear is quite low on these bikes already, are the gains coming in 2nd and 3rd and 4th gear pulls on the trail? I'm a Land Speed Racer...usually working on the other end of the gearing. Hope to be picking my bike up tomorrow, and I'm making my list of parts to grab while I'm there.
well i just want more pull 4 the trails and torque. the klx is kinda lackin in low end torque so im lookin 4 a little more. ive gotta pipe and i think this will give me wat im lookin 4

Well, first gear is not really that low and 6th gear is overdrive. The little engine can't hold speed in 6th with the stock gearing. Top speed is actually increased when you drop one in the front or go up three in the rear. If you do both you it runs a little high in the RPM range on the highway but still runs great and you get a lot more bottom end grunt. I often ride with my family and itwas really hard going slow with the stock gearing.

The only place we can test is the track...although we have been known to do late night bursts on unknown backroads <G>. We do have dyno access to test our mods. It IS alot of fun! We're not that fast, compared to alot of other vehicles, but we are more inclined to have fun, but we are quitegood in our class.LSR has been my 2nd or 3rd childhood, we're currently building a hybrid using a 1986 GSXR 750 frame that I've modified to accept an Ironhead Sportster engine. I stretched the frame 12" and we're desperately trying to get ready for the March race.
Maxton is great! Anybody can walk right up to a pit area and shoot the bull with any team, ya might not be welcome if they just blew a 20k engine, but other than that everybody is quite friendly.
It's getting more difficult now....but we used to do 15-20 passes down the track per day....it's getting more popular now, and the staging lines get longer, but it's still alot of fun.
