Hey guys, im ordering a few odds and ends parts for the klx and i would like to put the front chain/sprocket cover back on but i dont have that case saver metal piece that goes on with it... im having a heck of a time finding it on the parts sites ive even looked through the micro fiche. Anyone able to help or gimme a part # for that thing...

I was working on the klx the past few days it was gettin hard to start so i thought it might have been the valves... it was... the intake valves didnt have any clearance... the exhaust was getting tight too... so i adjusted all the valves and she runs alot better. Headed back to this spot friday....





Hopefully this doesnt happen again....

Sweet... Thanks... i missed it.. .its hard finding goofy small part #'s in those things.

 

I have a parts manual and then just googled the part number.
The manual is out there in cyber world or pm me and i'll send you a copy is ya like.

 

I just replaced my driveline with a 14/47 combo, so I know the part you speak of. In fact, there were 3 separate pieces that come under what I'd call "case protection". One of the parts is a tiny bit that seems to be an after thought to protect the wiring in the sprocket case. Looking at these parts closely, I'm su****ious that these flimsy parts would do much if anything if the drivechain grenaded into the engine. On the other hand, perhaps they're nothing more than "guides" placed there in hopes of directing the chain on by the sprocket to be spit out the rear...like usually happens when a chain unhinges. They don't appear to provide any real "armor" for a drivechain catastrophy.

 

Would be nice to find a good after market case saver, I've gone through one stock one already after picking up some mud and gravel! - Oh and I did put one on backwards which destroyed my chain - lesson learned there :|

 

Wow, this is old, and i still havent put the case saver back on yet.

Id take the brush gaurds over the case saver, one of those bikes has the stock hand guards in the woods...

 

Hand-crusher dumbo wings. He best swap those out with guards that protect against more than just the most puny of tree branches.
