Default Carb slide drill ??

I installed the dyno kit, but it gave no indication to drill the slide. From reading another post, it seems that drilling the slide will allow the vacume to move the slide quicker and therefore quicker throttle response would be acheived. Has anyone ever drilled the slide on an '09 with the dyno kit and what difference if any did it make?

I don't believe you have to drill the '09. The DJ kit doesn't require it.

Interesting. Anyone know for sure that the '09 doesn't gain improved throttle response with a drill slide?...is it already enlarged by Kawasaki?...is a lighter spring involved? I'm curious because if the slide is the same CVK34 version that's always been in this carb, it would benefit from drilling or going to a lighter spring. Anyone have any facts on this issue?...different slide?...etc.

I ordered the klx300 dj kit over the one for the 09.

I am running the stock spring with the slide drilled and It make a huge difference over stock. I cant compare this to what changing the spring alone would be like.

But its either change it for a softer spring or drill the hole, in theory they are supposed to accomplish the same thing.

I installed the KLX300 DJ kit (2206) and drilled the slide. The 09 slide is not bigger from the factory. The stock spring is used. I put the clip on the 3rd groove and 2.5 turns out for the A/F screw. Started right up and throttle response is much better.

I ment to say the hole in the 09 slide is not bigger. Still needs drilling with the 2006 DJ kit. Easy to do though.

Well here in canada I guess we have the US spec model.

But that hole you have to drill in, how big you need to do it? Everyone says you need to drill but no one how big.?

The drill bit came with the DJ kit. I'll have to check the size tonight and will let you know.
